Site Observations

Biologists with the Stanley Park Ecology Society will be monitoring the treatment and control sites to observe for the regrowth and rooting of ivy and how the abiotic and biotic community engages with the works.

Observational Data Collected at Ivy Project Treatment and Control Sites

  • Number of structures present, both on the ground and hanging
  • Ivy growth and condition
  • Native plant growth (i.e., species, location, and abundance)
  • Litter or soil accumulation on structures
  • Wildlife use of structures

Date: August 19, 2009

Observations: Treatment Site

  • Three ground and five hanging nest structures present.
  • No English ivy or other plant growth observed on structures. Ivy dry.
  • Minor amounts of bigleaf maple and red alder leaf material accumulating on structures.
  • Minor use by tent spider(s) on lower portion of vertical ground structures (web material observed).
  • No other wildlife use observed.

Observations: Control Site
